Let’s Party – May 18th, 2024
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for choosing to further your child’s dance abilities at Center Stage this year. We are proud to showcase everything our students have learned in our 2024 production, “Let’s Party”. This handout has very important information regarding the recital that we would like you to be aware of. For the recital to run smoothly, please read carefully over this and keep referencing it later. Once again, it has been an honor to inspire excellence in your child this year through the art of dance.
REHEARSAL:
RECITAL:
Reminders:
READY TO PERFORM – Please have students dressed for their first dance with their hair and make-up complete. Make-up is a necessity due to the harsh stage lighting. All our girl dancers need make-up to not be washed out on stage. We recommend base/powder, blush, black eyeliner, black mascara, lipstick, and eyeshadow (neutral colors are fine).
WORKERS/ HELPERS – We will have workers backstage to make sure that all students get the help they need to change costumes. If you need to come backstage, be sure to have your armband on where it can be seen. You will not be allowed into a dressing room without one!
HAIR – Unless otherwise instructed, hair should be slicked back into a tight bun on the back of the head (not on top). Bun should be secured with a HAIRNET in the color of the dancer’s hair. If your headpiece is a hat, you will be told if modifications to the placement of the bun must be made – usually a low bun or ponytail. Unless otherwise instructed, NO BANGS PERMITTED since bangs obscure the face and we want to see your face. Spray, Gel or Mousse all loose ends. No dangles or curly ends permitted. If you need clips to secure your hair, they MUST BE THE COLOR OF YOUR HAIR. Almost all hair lengths can get into a bun – practice. EVERY BUN must have a HAIRNET!
ABSOLUTELY NO UNDERWEAR – No underwear should be worn under your tights or costumes. Your tights will act like underwear. If you need to wear a bra, make sure it is BEIGE and that the bra straps cannot be seen when wearing the costume.
JEWELRY – No jewelry may be worn on stage or for pictures other than a) small stud earrings in the ears and/or b) accessories that have been assigned. This is a safety measure as well as for uniformity. No necklaces, dangling earrings, rings, anklets, etc. can be worn. Leave any valuables at home. We are not responsible for any lost jewelry.
NO NAIL POLISH, VISIBLE TATTOOS OR PIERCINGS – Clear nail polish or no nail polish at all. No white tips. If you wear colored polish you will need to remove it before pictures and before performance. All tattoos and body piercings must be covered or removed.
NAME IN ALL COSTUME PIECES – Put your student’s last name and first name in all costume pieces, including tights, shoes, gloves, sashes, headpieces, cuffs, etc. We have no extra costume pieces! Keep up with your costume pieces! Every student in the class has the same costume – how will you know which costume or accessory belongs to you? Bring all costumes, accessories, tights, shoes, safety pins, hair necessities, and make-up backstage.
SHOES – All ballet shoes must have the RIBBONS TAPED IN. All tap shoes must be the buckle kind (age 4) or be double knotted (older classes) or be the slip-on version. All jazz shoes must have the color required for the class and costume. Label shoes with your child’s name. Be sure to wipe off all your shoes so that they are ready! Magic erasers work wonders on most shoes. Also, be sure to have the correct color shoes that are listed as part of your costume on our accessory list. If you need to purchase new shoes, do not wait until the last minute! Never EVER wear dance shoes outside!
RECITAL OBLIGATIONS – Studio policy is that each student in each routine must be uniform in costume, shoes, and hair. We provide all accessories needed – tights, headpieces, bows, gloves, etc. to ensure uniformity. We expect every student to follow our instructions – no nail polish, no dangling earrings, no jewelry, tattoos, or underwear. If you are a new student, please be aware that we are strict regarding our policy. We run a top-shelf production and you can be part of something very special, but everyone must cooperate.
Parents – your child works very hard on their dance technique and routines during the year, and we know you will do your part to prepare them for the big day. Again, we run a professional show including scenery, props, and lighting. Please be sure to ask any questions that you may have and plan ahead.
Check out: (To ensure the safety of our students, please follow these procedures)

This handout has very important information regarding the recital that we would like you to be aware of. REHEARSAL:
- Recital rehearsal will be held at Enterprise Performing Arts Center. The date will be May 17th. The schedule is in this packet on a separate page for you to reference.
- Rehearsal is A DRESS rehearsal. Costumes are required and make-up is encouraged.
- Rehearsal is a CLOSED rehearsal, and only parents can watch.
- We generally practice in the order of the show so everyone can get a ‘feel’ for how the show will run.
RECITAL:
- “Let’s Party” will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Enterprise High School Performing Arts Center. The address is 1801 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise, Alabama. The performing arts center is attached to Enterprise High School. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE!
- Please take students to the side of the auditorium to the dressing rooms between 1:30-1:45 p.m. for the show. Please have them there NO LATER than 1:45 p.m. Make sure you check your child in with the backstage director.
- Dancers and mothers are the only people allowed backstage in the dressing rooms. Absolutely no men or boys are in the dressing rooms. All male students should be checked in and dropped off at the check-in area on the side of the stage.
- Only one parent should go backstage to drop their child/children off, NOT the entire family. The parent will receive a wristband with the child’s name on it, in the color of the group. The parent must have a wristband to return backstage to check out the child. No one will be allowed to pick up a child without a wristband. Once you drop your child off you must go back to the front of the building (lobby) to enter the auditorium. No other family members are allowed backstage.
- Use the restroom before getting into your costume!
- Remember the last day of spring session is May 24th. May tuition must be paid in full before the recital. All outstanding balances will be due before recital, or your child will not be allowed to participate in the recital.
- No food or drinks in dressing rooms except water. Students should bring books, games, cards or something to do if they have a lot of time between their dances. No paints, glue, etc... Or anything else that might get on costumes!
- Dancers will not be allowed to leave the backstage area. Security will not allow any dancer to leave the recital until AFTER the show is over. This is to ensure your child’s safety.
- Curtain Call for the dancers, company members, and staff will take place after the last dance number. This is when the students and staff will be recognized for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year. We recognize the students with a ‘gift’ so please be sure to stay until the end.
- Please refrain from walking around during dances. It is distracting to the dancers on stage and others in the audience. If you need to exit or enter the audience during the recital, PLEASE do so between dances – not during!
- No flash photography allowed! Flash photography is dangerous to the dancers on stage and can blind them!
- No VIDEOTAPING ALLOWED! This is due to privacy reasons and licensing. Choreography and music are licensed and copyrighted. We have to pay license fees for music and therefore, we do NOT allow videotaping.
- No phones allowed during Recital! You MAY take photographs or video tape during the rehearsal or after recital only. For everyone’s privacy, no video or photos allowed in any of the dressing rooms!
